Welcome
At Brea Olinda High School we are committed to the continued success of our program through instilling accountability and dedication in our athletes. Cross Country running allows athletes to learn that hard work and dedication do pay off. We strive to teach our athletes that taking the easy path is not always the best choice and having a positive outlook does influence positive results.
Tradition of Success
The Brea-Olinda Cross Country team is one of the most successful programs in California. In 2015, both the boys’ and girls’ teams won Century Conference titles. The girls finished 7th at CIF Finals and 7th at the California State Meet. The boys team won their third consecutive CIF title (4th in the past 6 years), and a second consecutive State title.
Summer camp
Our first practice is Thursday, July 7th at the BOHS track at 8:00 a.m. Prior to the first day of practice athletes need to complete the summer emergency contact form and We start all of our athletes with shorter runs and build their fitness throughout the season. We practice Monday-Saturday at 8:00 a.m. at various locations throughout our community and have second evening practices at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We ask for a donation of $200 in order to provide adequate supervision to all participating runners, if we are not able to pay for enough coaches then we are not able to take on as many runners during the summer program.
Who joins the team?
Most people on our team did not run before entering high school. This means that we have people with no athletic background to top notch soccer players, cheerleaders, football players. We don’t make cuts based on ability. We focus on dedication and character development to determine who makes the team. 99% of the people who come out for our team make the cut.
Team culture
We feel that our success is measured in smiles. If our athletes are happy, they are likely going to have a better high school experience. Attitude influences athletes’ successes in the classroom and in races.
Summer forms
Please fill this out ASAP if you have not already done so. I do not have emergency contact info for athletes over the summer and this is the only way I have to get in touch with parents in case of an emergency:
