Alumni Run

This Saturday will mark yet another year for the Brea-Olinda Alumni Run where a few questions will be answered. Chief among those is, who will win the individual and team titles? The Alumni will be top heavy with a trio of former All-State XC runners in Cody Nguyen (pre-race favorite, 1:50 800m runner for UC Davis), Brennon Koryta (3:53.04 for 2nd in the CCAA 1500m for Cal Poly Pomona) and 2015 graduate Austin Shellito who will be headed to UC Davis. But can these three hold off the reigning State XC and 1600m champion Austin Tamagno? Tamagno has times that are superior to the elder statesmen in the 1600, 3200 and 8k but bragging rights will be earned at the finish line. 
The ladies race will be one to watch. 2015 graduate Noelle Stewart is your offical dark horse after a guest appearance at practice this week. Stewart pulled away from your pre-race favorite Carly Halm during a set of controlled 1k's. Halm, who is known as a clutch racer, will be tough to beat even for our pair of 2 time CIF Champions Vanessa Hancock and Anne Gustafson. 
At the conclusion of the race, we will give awards to the winners and have our Hall of Fame inductions. Shirts will be on sale to honor Coach Mattern's accomplishments at BOHS and we will be taking donations/booster club memberships as well. We really need the support from our alumni and community this year. Believe it or not, the drought has taken away our main fundraiser for the foreseeable future. The city of Brea has placed a moratorium on carwash fundraisers leaving us with an approximate deficit of $7,000. This year we will be able to take credit cards as well as traditional forms of payment. 

Current BOHS athletes need to arrive at Olinda Ranch Park at 7:15, ready to run at 7:20 and ready to race at 8:00.
