Bronco Invite course map
Here we go again! After a long summer of training we are ready for our first race of the season. The Bronco Invite at Cal Poly Pomona is a new addition to our schedule although we used to attend there meet at Prado Park years ago. This flat, fast course is spectator friendly and will provide exciting racing for all. Important notes: Date: September 6, 2014 Departure: Meet in front of the main gym at 6:20 a.m. The bus will leave at 6:30. Location: Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Field. What to bring: uniform, training shoes, racing flats, water, and something healthy to eat after the race. Do not show up in jeans and sandals! Wear your team shirts and sweats. Warm-up: get in your group 45 minutes before your race and complete the standard warm-up routine that is appropriate to your level (experienced runners may need to do more than new runners). Make sure you plan on using the bathroom accordingly. Cool-down: new runners need to get in an easy 15-30 minutes of running. Experienced runners need to get in an easy 20-45 minutes of running. *You may want to double in the evening to get in your weekly mileage goals, and most returners and newbies should run Sunday to shakeout the muscle/tendon fatigue from the race; exercise stimulates blood-flow, which actually speeds recovery. Behavior: you are a part of one of the best programs in the state. Carry yourself with pride, act responsibly, treat others with respect. Hold yourself to the highest standard of behavior. Act like you would in front of your grandma, your spiritual/morality advisor, and Mother Teresa. Note: Each participant must complete the Activity Release form and bring the signed copy with them to the meet. Each coach will need to submit his or her entire teams waivers upon check-in to the event. Parking: The nearest parking lot available to the athletic field is Lot K. To get to Lot K, use the following address in Google Maps: "Collins Street, Pomona, CA"... You can also access directions at www.broncoathletics.com/directions. School bus parking is free but any other vehicles must purchase a parking pass from the yellow kiosk in the parking lot for $3/day on Saturday. Awards: Medals to the top 50 in each race. Team awards go to the overall team winner for each race. Meet Schedule (All races are 5K - 3.1 miles) JV Girls 8:00 a.m. JV Boys 8:35 a.m. Varsity Girls 9:05 a.m. Varsity Boys 9:35 a.m. Frosh/Soph Boys 10:05 a.m. Team awards will be presented at 11 a.m. Course is very fast and incorporates grass, hard packed dirt trails with some asphalt and concrete.
