carwash and Finances

10/11/2015

Thank you to those who have turned in their carwash fundraiser money. As of Saturday we still have 40 athletes who have not turned in their tickets or money which is nearly half of the team. If you still have not turned the items in please do so on Monday.

I feel that we have tried to communicate with the team about finances in a very positive way but have unfortunately not seen an increase in booster membership or fundraising participation. I will remain optimistic and hope that as a community we can better appreciate the situation our program is in.

Currently the booster club membership is around 40% for the boys and 20% for the girls. Booster club membership is $50/year and if we can get the program total up to 75% my mother-in-law will donate $800 to the program.
  1. Where does the money in our booster account go?
    1. The boosters pay for uniforms, banquets, trophies, training equipment, patches at CIF-Prelims, CIF-Finals and the State Meet.
    2. The boosters pay for 2 coaching stipends which is around $4,500/season
      1. Our coaches offer the best coaching around and most importantly help create a safe and fun experience for our athletes.
    3. The boosters pay for invitational entry fees. OCC and Mt. SAC are both $350 each or instance and we get $0 from the school to enter invites.
    4. The boosters pay for the State meet
      1. I love our school but, to be clear, they went though the recession too and do not have funds to contribute to our operational costs.
    5. Most importantly the boosters pay for athletes who are unable pay for camp or other trips.
  2. What does the future hold?
    1. If we are able to get booster club membership up to 75% then we will be in good shape and get an additional $800 donation from my mother-in-law.
    2. If we are not able to raise funds we will have to drastically reduce spending which means reducing or eliminating many of our beloved traditions including camp, additional coaches, banquets, trophies, patches and invitationals.
  3. What can you do?
    1. Join the booster club if you have not done so
    2. Participate in fundraising
    3. Get involved
I can sincerely say that I do not like having to write this post and my hope is that we can all pitch-in to maintain the high quality of our program. I'm blessed to be the head coach of BOHS XC and appreciate all of the hard work that the parents and coaches selflessly dedicate. I look forward to many more years of fun times and fast racing.
