Woodbridge Invite

This year marks a huge change for the famously fast Woodbridge Invite as they move locations for the third time. The course had to be moved to protect a fly or a Pterosaurs, the important piece of info is we'll be racing the the Great Park in Irvine. While some athletes may be weary of the changes to the course the coaches are confident in the meet directors who set the standard for meet management. Their goal is to create a lightning fast course and have a ton of athletes run PR's. 

Although the meet managers are top notch, the roads into the park are going to be very congested. Woodbridge Invite has grown to be one of the largest meets in the nation. With two days of racing on tap the meet is scheduled to have a total of 52 races. Tens of thousands of athletes and spectators will converge on The Great Park throughout the weekend and if you are driving yourself I would strongly suggest allotting an additional 30 minutes to your travel time as there is only one road into the park.

Timing chip instructions: please note that each athlete needs to turn in their timing chip immediately after their race. If chips are not returned they will bill the team $20/chip. 

Bus Departure: 
Boys 2:15 from the BOHS parking lot
Girls 4:00 from the BOHS parking lot


Return: 
Our boys Varsity/Sweeps do not race until 8:06 and 9:54 PM respectively.  The bus will leave at approximately 11:00 PM.  Plan on getting home late.  You may have a parent drive you home from the meet.  Just give Coach Mattern a note indicating your parent will drive you home.  We highly encourage athletes to go home with their parents after they race and cool down.

What to Bring: 
Uniform, flats, trainers, sweats, team shirt, food water, and/or money for food.

Runners in the Varsity and Sweeps races (boys and girls): Do not ride the bus to the meet.  Please have a parent drive you.  Arrive at the meet 90 minutes to 2 hours before your race.

PARENT AND SPECTATOR PARKING

Allow ample time to arrive for your races as you might encounter some traffic (especially on Friday afternoon). There will be a $10.00 parking fee for each vehicle at the Great Park (this is a fee to the park not the meet).

The only route available for spectators/parents to the parking areas is Marine Way. Spectator vehicles will not be allowed to enter through Trabuco Road. Please follow the directions below.

•   Arriving via SOUTHBOUND I-5 or I-405 Freeways:
1.                   Exit on Sand Canyon Road and proceed North (left turns).
2.                   Turn Right on Marine Way (first right as you cross under the 5 Freeway).
3.                   Stay on Marine Way and enter into the Great Park.
4.                   Follow the signs to the parking areas.

•   Arriving via NORTHBOUND I-5 or I-405 Freeways:
1.                   Exit on Sand Canyon Road (Exit 96).
2.                   Turn Right onto Sand Canyon Road at the end of the off-ramp.
3.                   Turn Right on Marine Way.
4.                   Stay on Marine Way and enter into the Great Park.
Follow the signs to the parking areas.
